The New Zealand netball captain Casey Kopua hopes to return to the court for her first full match in three months this weekend.

She'll play for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic play in a pre-season ANZ Championship tournament in Melbourne.

Kopua played three-quarters of a training game yesterday her first match play since the Fast5 Netball World Series in November following off-season ankle surgery.

All 10 trans-Tasman teams are taking part in the tournament but Kopua is undecided just how much game time she'll have.

She says while she hasn't suffered an ill affects from yesterday's game she doesn't want to commit yet to playing this weekend.

The Magic will play the New South Wales Swifts on Saturday morning and will also play the Canterbury Tactix, West Coast Fever, Southern Steel, Queensland Firebirds and Northern Mystics over the two days where matches will consist of two 15-minute halves.
