America's National Football League could be about to have its first openly gay player, with standout Missouri College defensive lineman Michael Sam publicly coming out as gay.

Sam, a 2013 First-Team All American player, told ESPN and the New York Times that he was gay, and he says when he told his team-mates during a pre-season practice last year, they just started shaking their heads - like, finally, he came out.

Sam might become the first ever openly gay NFL player if he gets selected in the 2014 NFL Draft being held in May.
