Northern Districts have thrashed leaders Canterbury by an embarrassing 130 runs in their domestic Plunket Shield four-day match in Gisborne.
Bottom province Central came up short against Wellington in Napier, the match ending in a draw after the visitors set the Stags a target of 353.
They could only manage 290 for seven before stumps were pulled.
Elsewhere, second-placed Otago drew with struggling Auckland at Eden Park.
