The former world golf number two Sergio Garcia is hoping his Qatar Masters victory at the weekend is an encouraging sign for the season ahead.

The European Ryder Cup player picked up his 26th career title yesterday in Doha after three holes of a sudden death playoff with Finland's Mikko Ilonen, and he hopes to follow it up with an amazing year.

The field for the final leg of the European Tour's Desert Swing, this week's Dubai Desert Classic, will include three of the world's top ranked players Tiger Woods, Henrik Stenson and Rory McIlroy.
