Portugal and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the world's best footballer for the second time.
Ronaldo beat out the Argentine Lionel Messi and France's Franck Ribery for the FIFA Ballon d'Or which was presented at a ceremony in Zurich.
While he did not win a major title in 2013, Ronaldo's prolific goal scoring earned him the honour as he scored 69 goals in the year.
The 28-year-old last won the award in 2008.
The retired Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes was named coach of the year for the first time after his team won an unprecedented Champions League, Bundesliga and German Cup treble.
Brazilian legend Pele was also honoured at the ceremony with an honorary Ballon d'Or.
The three-time World Cup winner was ineligible for the award during his career as it was only presented to European players at the time.
The Germany goalkeeper Nadine Angerer was named women's Player of the Year.
