The English cricketers have reached tea at 115 for four on the third afternoon of the fourth Ashes Test in Melbourne, leading Australia by 166 runs in their second innings.
England struggled somewhat with the bat after bowling the Australians out for 204 and reaching lunch on 54 without loss at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The tourists then lost four wickets for just 22 runs with only captain Alistair Cook overly troubling the scorers with 51, while Ian Bell was caught for a golden duck.
Australia have already reclaimed the Ashes 3-0.
