A serious knee injury has ruled the Blues lock Culum Retallick out of action for six months, putting his Super Rugby season in doubt.
The 28-year-old ruptured his right anterior cruciate ligament during a training drill on Tuesday and the 1.98 metre cousin of All Black lock Brodie Retallick is scheduled to have surgery in the New Year, once the swelling in his knee has subsided.
Retallick is expected to be out of action for around six months, though he's hoping to make a return towards the end of the Super Rugby season.
A decision on whether or not he will be replaced will be made in the New Year.
