The Tauranga swimmer Nathan Capp has taken nearly five seconds off the national 1500 metre freestyle record at the Queensland Championships in Brisbane.
Capp finished second with his time bettering the mark set by Kane Radford in 2012.
Meanwhile Lauren Boyle added a second title, winning the 800 freestyle.
