New Zealand's champion shot-putter Valerie Adams has won a poll in the British Athletics Weekly magazine as the top women's athlete of the year.
Athletics Weekly readers voted Adams number one ahead of Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and the Ethiopian long distance runner Tirunesh Dibaba.
Last month Fraser-Pryce was named the IAAF's female athlete of the year ahead of Adams and Dibaba.
Britain's Mo Farrar was the people's choice for male athlete of the year.
