Arsenal win and Chelsea lose but Londoners advance in Champions League

Arsenal have beaten Olympique Marseille 2-0 to make it four Champions League football wins out of five games, but they're still not certain of qualifying for the knockout stage of the elite European football tournament.

Two goals from Jack Wilshere, the first after 30 seconds, sealed the win for Arsenal who head their group.

Chelsea though have confirmed their place in the knockout phase despite losing 1-0 away to Swiss side Basel.

They're guaranteed a place in the last 16 despite having a round to play after other results in their pool went their way.

Ajax Amsterdam remain in contention for the top 16 after becoming the first side to beat Barcelona this season with a 2-1 win.

Celtic lost 3-0 to AC Milan in Glasgow, the Italian side keeping their hopes alive.

Last season's runners-up Borussia Dortmund beat Napoli 3-1 in Germany to earn a lifeline and stay in the hunt for a knockout stage spot.

Portuguese champions Porto drew 1-1 at home draw against Austria Vienna and missed a chance to overtake second-placed Zenit St Petersburg, who earlier drew 1-1 against group winners and Spanish surprise packages Atletico Madrid Atletico Madrid in Russia.

Lacklustre Schalke 04 face the prospect of missing out after behing held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at Romanians Steaua Bucharest.
