Waterhouse charged over race-day treatment

Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Gai Waterhouse has been charged by stewards over the race-day treatment of one of her runners in Tuesday's big race.

Waterhouse will answer a Racing Appeals Board hearing on Friday after security guards witnessed handlers giving medication to her horse Tres Blue, hours before the Cup.

She says it was just an oversight over Tres Blue who has a form of dermatitis, and a young strapper forgot that any treatment on race day is banned.

Racing stewards have also charged Mikel Delzangles over race-day treatment of the 2011 Cup winner Dunaden, who received an oral treatment for an ulcer.
