The Jamaican sprinter Usian Bolt, Britain's long distance runner Mo Farah and the Ukranian high jumper Bohdan Bondarenko have been named as the three men's finalists for the IAAF World Athlete of the Year awards.
The three women's finalists will be announced overnight, with New Zealand's Valerie Adams among the shortlist.
The winners will be announced later this month.
