Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese Football Federation and the Spanish club Real Madrid have responded angrily to comments from FIFA's outspoken president Sepp Blatter that appeared to mock the Real and Portugal forward.

Asked at the Oxford University Union for his opinion on Ronaldo and Barcelona's World Player of the Year Lionel Messi, Blatter said they were both exceptional players, but unlike Messi, Ronaldo resembled "a commander on the field of play".

He then rose from his chair and strutted on the stage in military fashion, apparently imitating the Portuguese star.

Then he added that Ronaldo has more expenses for the hairdresser.

Via his Facebook page, Ronaldo sent Blatter a reply saying "This video shows clearly the respect and consideration that FIFA has for me, for my club and my country ... adding "Much is explained now".

The Portugal Football Federation's president Fernando Gomes described Blatter's remarks as "unfit and inappropriate", and he's written to the FIFA president asking him to clarify his remarks.
