The Blues boast a much more balanced squad for next year's Super rugby competition than they had for this year's competition says coach Sir John Kirwan.
Just three of the 32 strong squad former All Black lock Tom Donelly, promising Auckland lock Patrick Tuipulotu and league convert Benji Marshall, haven't played for the franchise previously.
As announced previously the squad features the return of All Blacks Tony Woodcock and Ma'a Nonu and former All Black Jerome Kaino who's been playing in Japan for the past couple of years.
Daniel Braid will captain the side.
