All Whites to play in Saudi Arabia as part of world cup playoff buildup

7:36 am on 29 August 2013

The All Whites will compete in a Four Nations competition in Saudi Arabia next month, ahead of their final World Cup qualification playoff in November.

The tournament will include New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Trinidad & Tobago, and the United Arab Emirates.

The All Whites coach Ricki Herbert says the tournament is another opportunity to bring the team together in testing conditions ahead of playing the yet to be determined fourth-placed CONCACAF team, for a place at next year's World Cup in Brazil.

New Zealand are currently ranked 57th in the world, with Trinidad & Tobago 78th, the UAE 84th and Saudi Arabia 107th.

The squad for the trip will be named later this week.
