NBL Commissioner clears Raapton and Homik

Automatic one match suspensions of National Basketball players Tony Rampton and Mike Homik have been overturned.

The pair were ejected from the opening finals game between the Nelson Giants and the Waikato Pistons on Tuesday in Nelson, which the Pistons won, to go one nil up in the best of three series.

But Nelson appealed sanction against Rampton, saying the referees' report stated punches were thrown, but it wasn't supported by television footage.

Judicial commissioner Commissioner, Barry Wilson says it was a straightforward, off-the-ball tussle for position which ended with both players on the floor.

He says the ejections were excessive and both players have been cleared to play in game two tonight in Te Awamutu.
