The banished Australian batsman David Warner has put his hand up for a return to the Ashes cricket series by smashing 193 for Australia A on the first day of their four-day match against South Africa A in Pretoria.
Warner was despatched to southern Africa from the tour of England to find some form after being suspended for punching the England batsman Joe Root in a bar.
His century included 18 boundaries, and in all he hit 29 fours and a six.
Warner is due to return to the Austalian squad in time for the third test against England, starting next Thursday at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile the Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Kevin Pietersen if the England star fails to recover from injury.
Pietersen suffered a calf strain during the second test at Lord's, and he's still undergoing treatment.
