Warne set for Hall of Fame induction

5:57 am on 13 July 2013

The great Australian leg spinner Shane Warne is about to be inducted into cricket's Hall of Fame during the second Ashes test in England.

Warne was the first bowler to take 700 test wickets in a career spanning 145 Tests between 1992 and 2007.

As a batsman his 3,154 test runs is the most by any player without scoring a century.

This year's three other inductees are the Australian pace bowler Glen McGrath, the West Indies batsman Brian Lara, and the long-serving England women's all rounder Enid Bakewell.

The only New Zealander in the Hall of Fame is Sir Richard Hadlee.
