Hurricanes blow away Force with late surge

6:46 am on 11 April 2009

The Hurricanes have put themselves back in contention in the Super 14 rugby competition with a remarkable come-from-behind win over the Western Force in Perth.

The Hurricanes overturned a 14-point deficit to win 28 - 27 with two tries in the last four minutes, including the matchwinner by fullback Cory Jane after the final siren.

The win moves the Wellington side into the top four for now, while the one-point loss all but ends the play-off hopes of the Force.

In Auckland the Blues got their Super 14 campaign back on track with a 36 - 12 bonus point victory over South Africa's Lions.

The Blues out-scored the Lions by six tries to two.
