The New Zealand tennis number one Marina Erakovic has been well beaten in the opening round of the latest Masters event at Key Biscayne in Florida.
Erakovic went down to Croatian Karolina Sprem 6-love, 6-2.
Sprem, who had to qualify for this tournament, is a former top 20 player and is on her way back after elbow surgery last year.
The results will see Erakovic's current world ranking of 70 drop further.
