But the 15th win of the Aucklander's career only came after a remarkable comeback.
The favourite Vanessa Atkinson, the former world champion from the Netherlands, led by two games and was poised to beat the second seeded Kitchen in straight games.
But the determined Kiwi fought back - surviving three successive tie-break games to notch up an incredible 8-11, 2-11, 13-11, 14-12, 13-11 victory after 63 minutes.
