The Rotorua swimmer Kane Radford has finished sixth in the 10-kilometre open water swim at the Junior Pan Pacific Championship in Guam.
The 18-year-old Radford, the former Oceania champion, swam aggressively throughout, leading for much of the four laps.
However he was unable to shake a small group of chasers, who out-kicked Radford on the final lap.
The open water swim brought the curtain down on the Junior Pan Pacs with New Zealand winning five medals, including three gold.
