Injury problems for Blues

11:15 am on 30 April 2013

The Blues coach Sir John Kirwan will hold off naming his side to take on the Stormers this weekend as players overcome injury, illness and fatigue.

Centre Rene Ranger is in Middlemore Hospital with an infected finger, while fullback Charles Piutau and flanker Steven Luatua missed training on Monday because of illness.

Hooker James Parsons and lock Anthony Boric are also in doubt.

Kirwan says he's not sure who'll be available, but the players who are in doubt have played most of the minutes this season and he expected this sort of problem at this point in the Super Rugby competition.

The Blues are coming off a close loss to the Queensland Reds last weekend.

The Stormers beat the Hurricanes last weekend.
