The Springbok loose forward Schalk Burger has been released from a Cape Town hospital having spent the past two weeks being treated for bacterial meningitis.
Bacterial meningitis is an inflammation of the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.
He contracted the disease after an operation on his calf.
The calf issue and a knee problem, meant he hasn't played for over a year after being injured in the opening round of last year's Super Rugby competition.
The Stormers forward now needs a further six weeks recuperating before being allowed to resume training.
