Perth guard Martin in doubt for NBL final

8:54 am on 1 April 2013

Perth guard Damian Martin faces a battle to make the start of the National Basketball League grand final series.

Martin suffered a calf injury as fellow veterans Kevin Lisch and Shawn Redhage led the Wildcats past the Wollongong Hawks, 85-81 in overtime in Wollongong on Sunday to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the best-of-three series.

Martin was unable to play any of the second half and will undergo scans to determine the extent of the injury.

He could be in doubt for the start of the grand final series that won't begin until April 7th at the earliest, with Perth coach Rob Beveridge saying it doesn't look good at all.

The Wildcats will play the winner of the New Zealand Breakers-Sydney Kings series which the Breakers lead 1-0 going into game two on Monday.

The Wildcats will be making their second consecutive grand final series appearance and third in the past four seasons.
