The England and Wales Cricket Board has pledged to take all "reasonable steps" to stop players using recreational drugs following an inquest into the death of one of the game's rising stars.
The 23 year old Surrey batsman Tom Maynard, the son of a former England batsman Matthew Maynard, was electrocuted on a railway line and struck by a train in June last year as he attempted to flee police.
A post-mortem examination revealed alcohol levels in Maynard's body nearly four times above the legal limit, and that he had taken cocaine and ecstasy.
The ECB's testing programme applies to all registered county players and up to 200 tests on average are carried out each year.
