Local motor racing star Greg Murphy is exploring the opportunity of a wildcard spot in the sole New Zealand round of the V8 Supercars in April.
Murphy has confirmed he will be back for the ITM 400 Auckland V8 round as an amabassor and also hopes to take his place on the grid at the revitalised Pukekohe Park Raceway.
Murphy, who won the V8 Supercar event Pukekohe for three straight years between 2001 and 2003, says he would enter for the Holden Racing Team if funding can be found.
Work is well advanced for the $6.6 million upgrade which will see the Pukekohe track return to its international status.
