Wellington golfer Mark Brown has qualified for this year's British Open by winning the qualifying tournament in Melbourne with a course record.
Brown shot a sizzling 10 under par 62 at the prestigious Kingston Heath course to finish 10 under for the 36-hole tournament and top the 72-strong field.
The 37-year-old started the day tied for 27th at even par and fired in eight birdies and an eagle in a flawless round to book his second British Open start.
Brown's appearance will be 50 years after Sir Bob Charles' win of the Open Championship in 1963 at Royal Lytham and St Annes.
The 37-year-old lost his European player's card in 2011 after four years and last year played mainly the OneAsia and Australasian tours.
Brown didn't make the cut in his only other appearance, at Turnberry in 2009 when he was playing on the European Tour.
