England winger Theo Walcott has ended months of speculation by agreeing a new long-term deal at his London Premier League football side Arsenal.
The 23-year-old England forward's former deal was due to expire at the end of the season and he could have left the London club on a free transfer.
But it is understood he has now agreed a new three-and-a-half-year deal worth in the region of $200,000 a week.
He's reportedly convinced Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to play him in his preferred centre forward position, but Wenger insisted last week there was no such clause in the contract and, in any case, he would never agree to a deal which included such tactical demands from a player.
And the French boss hailed Walcott's ability to play in two positions as he welcomed the England rising star's decision to commit his future to Arsenal.
Some Arsenal fans will wonder if he is worth the money following a series of inconsistent displays in recent years.
However, his move to centre forward last month has so far been a partial success after a spell on the bench amid the contract wrangle.
The speedy and diminutive player scored a hat-trick in the 7-3 home demolition of Newcastle United but has gone missing in other games like the 2-0 home defeat by champions Manchester City last weekend.
He is nevertheless sixth-placed Arsenal's top scorer this term with 14 goals in 24 games in all competitions.
Walcott, whose side visit city rivals Chelsea on Monday, has netted four times in 30 internationals for England.
