The General Manager of the Major league Soccer club Toronto FC says new head coach Ryan Nelsen has better leadership qualities than any professional athlete he has been around.

Kevin Payne introduced Nelsen into the MLS in the 2001 draft and the All Whites captain played for Washington D.C United for fours years.

Payne says he always thought Ryan would end up becoming an outstanding head coach.

Neslen, contracted to Queens Park Rangers till the end of June, is having discussions with the English premier league's bottom side to decide when he can take up his new role in Canada.
