Rain once again dominated play last night as the Black Caps had any hope of notching their first win in Sri Lanka dashed despite dominating with the ball.

Sri Lanka were reeling at 123 for 8 when the weather caved in to complete a series of rain-affected matches.

Tim Southee was the pick of the New Zealand bowlers, picking up 3 for 18 while Andy Ellis backed him up with a handy 2 for 22 and Upul Tharanga top scored for the hosts scoring 60.

The result means Sri Lanka win the series 3-nil, with the first and last matches producing no results.

Sri Lanka won all their games after the duckworth-lewis system was applied.
