The Canterbury women have booked their spot in the semi-finals of the National Hockey League with two rounds remaining.

The unbeaten Cantabrians qualified for the weekend's play-off matches with another commanding performance to beat Midlands 2-nil in the fifth round at Auckland's Lloyd Elsmore Hockey Stadium.

In other women's games, Capital beat North Harbour 1-nil and Southern beat Northland 3-2.

Capital moved to the top of the men's table as they outclassed Northland 6-1 with Black Stick Matt L'Huillier collecting four goals.

Fellow international Nick Wilson snatched an equaliser in the dying minutes to level the match between last year's joint champions Central and Auckland 3-all, his Central side winning the resulting penalty shoot-out 3-1.

North Harbour moved into second equal with Auckland with a 3-1 win over Southern while Midlands beat Canterbury 4-2.
