Scurrah shares in blame for Warriors demise

7:56 am on 24 August 2012

The New Zealand Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah says he has to share some of the blame for their recent form slump, which has resulted in the sacking of coach Brian McClennan.

After being grand finalists last year, the Warriors are on a six-game losing streak which has ended their play-off hopes as well as cut McClennan's career short less than a year into a two-year contract.

The owners are obviously not happy with falling attendances.

Scurrah says they could have helped McClennan with more resources and structures and so they should share some of the blame.

He says the Warriors want to secure a new coach as soon as possible.

Assistant coach Tony Iro will take control of the side for the rest of the season.
