American golfer Tiger Woods has finished out of the running at the US Open in San Francisco, carding a three over par 73 and missing his chances of a 15th major championship.
Woods nosedived early in the final round, opening with a bogey on each of the first two holes before a double bogey on the third and a further bogey on the fifth dropped him out of contention.
Woods' compatriot Webb Simpson won his maiden US Open title, coming home strong to take out the major tournament by one shot.
