Zara Phillips, the Queen's granddaughter, has been selected to compete for Great Britain at the London Olympics next month.

Phillips has been chosen as part of the five-person eventing team.

It will be her first Olympics after she missed out on Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008 when her former horse Toytown was injured on both occasions.

She won a gold and silver medal at the World Equestrian Games in 2006.

Phillips will follow in the footsteps of her mother, the Princess Royal, who competed at the 1976 Monteal Olympics.

Her father, Mark Phillips, won team gold at the Munich Games in 1972 and team silver 16 years later in Seoul.
