Three Taekwondo exponents have been selected to compete for New Zealand in the London Olympics.

Beijing Olympians Logan Campbell and Robin Cheong have been joined by Vaughn Scott, who says his mum inspired him to take up the sport just 8 years ago.

In a quick rise to the top, 22-year-old Scott has an official Olympic ranking of 20 in the under 80kg division, but recent performances place him eleventh in the Olympic field.

Scott moved to New Zealand from South Africa when he was eight and says his mother suggested he try the sport as a fourteen year old as she thought it would keep him out of trouble.

Logan Campbell finished in the top 16 in Beijing, while Robin Cheong is a Korean New Zealander with a ranking of 7th.

The New Zealand Olympic team now consists of 43 athletes including sailing, rowing, canoe slalom and dressage.
