Pinot Noir has taken the biggest haul of gold medals at the national wine awards, for the fourth consecutive year.
Judges have awarded 83 gold medals at the Air New Zealand Wine awards. The winners are in the running for trophies to be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland next Saturday.
Almost 1500 wines from 10 wine growing regions were entered.
Pinot Noir varieties won 17 of the gold medals, Sauvignon Blanc 14 and Chardonnay 10.
Some 230 silver medals and 386 bronze medals were also awarded.
The Marlborough region received the most medals, 332.
