High prices paid for bulls

Beef bull breeders have enjoyed their best selling season for years.

PGG Wrightson livestock genetics manager Bruce Orr says prices paid for commercial bulls at sales in both the North and South Islands, have in some cases been beyond vendors' wildest dreams.

He says apart from a general rise in the price of beef cattle this year, there's no rational explanation as to why buyers have paid record prices for their replacement bulls.
