Kiwifruit spray subsidy extended again

9:36 pm on 5 July 2011

Kiwifruit Vine Health has extended its spray subsidy for a second time.

The organisation is responsible for overseeing a management plan to control the bacterial disease PSA in orchards.

Some 245 orchards have been confirmed as having the vine-killing disease since it was first discovered near Te Puke in November last year.

Kiwifruit Vine Health general manager John Burke says the cut-off date for date for growers eligible for the subsidy is now 15 July.

The extension also applies to Gisborne and northern Hawke's Bay growers.
