Nearly 600 farmers have registered for the South Island Dairy Event at Lincoln University near Christchurch.
The three-day conference, which starts on Monday, features industry leaders and commentators, as well as panel discussions and workshops.
The organising committee chair, Kaikoura dairy farmer Simon Mackle, says a highlight will be Monday afternoon's panel discussion on the sustainability of dairy growth in the South Island.
He says the theme for this year's South Island dairy event is 'challenge your future'.
