The Prince of Wales has acknowledged New Zealand's role in a new international promotion campaign designed to rebuild demand for wool.
The campaign, which Prince Charles initiated in Britain last year, had its New Zealand launch in Wellington on Friday night.
In a video message, the Prince said New Zealand wool carpets, furnishing and clothing products show that the fibre has the edge on its synthetic competition.
He said New Zealand sheep farming is leading the way in schemes that ensure animal welfare, land stewardship and environmental practices are ethical and sustainable.
The New Zealand wool industry will contribute about $500,000 annually to the five-year promotion.
