The Crafar receivers say they're still confident of selling the 16 farms, despite the conditional sale to the Hong-Kong-based company Natural Dairy NZ Holdings receiving a knockback.
The Government and the Overseas Investment Office have declined an application for clearance to buy the farms.
One of the receivers, Brendon Gibson of KordaMentha, says they are waiting to hear from UBNZ Funds Management, which made the application on behalf of Natural Dairy.
He says they would prefer to finalise the deal with UBNZ, but they've had a lot of other interest in the farms as well.
Meanwhile, the Crafar family is continuing its legal battle to avoid eviction from three houses on two of the farms at Reporoa.
The family spokesman, Allan Crafar, says his son is living on another farm where he's working as a sharemilker for the receivers.
He says he himself has also offered to help run the farms, as he's had no income for almost 15 months now, but that hasn't been taken up.
