Online livestock trading 'gathering momentum'

4:10 pm on 1 July 2010

PGG Wrightson says more than $5 million of stock has been auctioned on its online livestock trading service and more than 30,000 people have visited the site.

Launched early last year for the sale of dairy cows, Agonline was extended to sheep, beef and deer in November.

PGG Wrightson dairy livestock manager Paul Edwards says that far more stock is still traded in yard sales but that the new service is gathering momentum.

Mr Edwards says they are also looking at selling feed and other rural services on the online trading site.
