Kiwis will miss out on a new variety of kiwifruit, known as ENZARed, as the first 15,000 trays of it head offshore.

Turners & Growers said the outer flesh of the fruit was green and tasted similar to gold variety kiwifruit.
However, the centre was marked by a red starburst which tasted like berries.
Turners & Growers said this year's crop, which would go to Australia and China, would be used to judge international market demand.
