The Government has approved a new commodity levy for the forest industry.
The levy, which was backed by a referendum earlier this year, will apply to all harvested wood material, including logs, produced on plantations.
A Forest Growers Levy Trust has been set up to collect the money for activities such as research and development, forest biosecurity, and industry training and education.
Foresters are currently voting in a ballot to decide who will represent them on the trust board.
Fourteen candidates are standing for six positions. Voting closes on 22 November.
