Another New Zealand meat company has fallen foul of Chinese labelling requirements and has lost its right to export there.
Lean Meat's Oamaru processing plant is now waiting for Chinese officials to re-approve it for export.
Lean Meats is a Hastings company, majority owned by farmers, which says it specialises in processing and exporting lamb to discerning customers around the world.
In April the company gained full export status to China.
But chief executive Richard Thorp says the company has made a labelling mistake that saw that status revoked.
Mr Thorp says while he wished the mistake had never happened, Lean Meats has fixed the problem and is hoping its exports to China will be get back underway very shortly.
Lean Meat's problems follow the Alliance meat company's Pukeuri meat plant losing its export certification to China too.
The Ministry for Primary Industries blamed poor management practices at Alliance for labelling mistakes and it sending meat to China from unapproved plants.
