River levels are falling in the northern and eastern areas of Otago which copped the worst of Monday's flooding.
But with wet conditions forecast to continue into the week, it's going to take a while for flooded farmland to drain.
North Otago Federated Farmers president Richard Strowger said he's heard no reports of serious losses from the flooding and farmers have been coping quite well.
He said there have been good feed stocks, most of the cows have been dried off and the ewes are all locked away for winter. Farmers also received good warnings to get stock to higher ground, he says.
But Mr Strowger said cold southerly conditions forecast for later in the week will put the pressure on farmers and their stock.
Otago Regional Council says flood levels were expected to rise further on the Taieri Plain overnight, especially in the Henley area.
And further south, the Clutha and Pomohaka river levels were also rising.
