A winery which had the equivalent of 8000 bottles of wine drained from a tank will be introducing more security measures to prevent more vandals.
Moana Park Winery near Napier discovered on Saturday morning that $165,000 worth of merlot had been drained from a tank.
Owner Dan Barker said the vineyard is fenced, but more security measures will be introduced to protect the crop.
He will install infrared sensors and movement detecting cameras.
Dan Barker said the business will cope, but he does not believe it will make a profit this year.
