Meat co-operative Silver Fern Farms says demand for its retail packs of lamb and venison is showing no signs of slowing.
The company introduced consumer ready packs of premium meat cuts three years ago, and marketing manager Sharon Angus says sales have grown by 30% a year.
She says market research shows regular buyers of retail packs earn more than $80,000 a year and are often consumers who are pushed for time.
She says while the retail packets are still a small part of Silver Fern Farms' overall business, it recently launched similar packs in the Tesco's chain in the United Kingdom.
