Dairy New Zealand says farmers in Northland are still trying to recover financially from severe droughts three years ago and have less money now to get them through the dry period.
Farmers are awaiting for a Government announcement on a drought-relief package for Northland after months of sparse rainfall in the region.
Northland regional leader Tafi Manjala said milk production has dropped and extra supplemants for stock are in short supply.
He told Nine to Noon that farmers are not in a good position as this year's payout is down on last year so businesses don't have as much money to get them through the drought.
